The town authorities of Fort Mill
have decided to allow the discharge
of firecrackers and other fireworks
in town on December 25 and 26 in
celebraion of the Christmas holidays.
The attendance at the night school
for adul liberates which opened rier
eral nights ago at the- Fort Mill
graded school was decidedly encouraging
to those in charge. The school
will run for several months and it is
thought that the enrollment will be
augmented by a number of addilonal
pupils after the Christmas holidays.

Two forces of hands are now at
work improving the public road between
the town limits and Bailes'
bridge under he contract awarded
several weeks ago by the Fort Mill
ownshlp bond commission. Work on
the Steele Creek road between the
town and the North Carolina line

progress has been somewhat

days on account of unfavorable
. weather conditions. The statement
was made las night that the Improvement

spent Monday In Columbia attending
a good roads meeting whioh had
been called by Governor Harvey. A
good roads associaion was formed ai
a result of the meeting and a full sec
0 of officers elected, including g vice
president for each of the State's
seven congressional districts. The
vice president for the 6th congressional
district is Col . T. B. Spratt
* of Fort Mill. At the meeting it wa:>
decided to ask the Liegislaeure he its
next session to provide for a bi*;
bond issue for road improvements.

Several of the Northwestern railroads
equip their locomotives with

to the side. At all terminals of thesa
roads wedge plows are stationed,
awaiting calls from any section. In
the mountain districts the rotary
plow is used, which burrows through
the snow, whilrling it from the tracks.
Ancient Belles Millions.
Twelve million dollars Is a conservative
estimate of the value of
relics found on the site of the ancient
Thebes, near Luxor. Egypt, according
to information from an exploring
party wich uncovered the treassure.
The Information adds that the
quantity of relics found may exceed
the capacity of the museum at Cairo,
Egypt. , ,
Two sealed chambers have been
opened, but' there remain several others.
one of which is believed to bo
the tomb of King .Tutenkhamun, who
reigned in the year 1350 B. C. These
chambers will remain unopened unttl
more diggers and officials arrive in
about si* weeks. , .
