Rigby and Bertram Weinberg attended the Shrine meet ing in Columbia last Friday. Dr. W. Scott Harvin has moved his family back to Manning, and they are occupying the A. I. Barron home. The editor enjoyed a pleasant visit from Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Kennedy of Mouzon last Saturday. Seaman Frank Ward of the battle ship New Hampshire is visiting his sister Mrs. Joseph Yasney. Hon. Richard S. Whaley, congress man from the first District, is in town for the Fair. Hion. L. L. Baker, from United States Department of Agriculture, is in town for the Fair. J1. R. Clark, former Demonstration Agent for Clarendon County, but now of Richland County, is in town for the Fair. Mr. Joe Nimmer left yesterday for Charleston, where he went to get a car and dIrive back through the coun try. M'ur. Horace Thomas left Mondlay for St. Louis to huy a car loadl of mules for the well known stable of F. C. Thomas. ('apt. D~avis was taken quite ill while on his hunt last week near Cha rleston, and bad to be taken to the cit y for treat meat. Miss lHess iu Dickson was operated on hlast Thursdlay in the Columbia hospital for appendicitis. She is do ing nicely. The Clarendon County Fair opened today under unfavorable weather con ditions, though it is hoped the skies will clear away for tomorrow and Friday. The Fair house js full of fine exhibits and large crodds are expected to come. We will give a de tailed write-up of the occasion next week. Today 3 save you mc NG COM Died last Sunday morning at the home of Mr. E. C. Horton in Manning, Mx. James Reeves. The deceased re sided in the Fork of Black River and came to Manning Saturday a week ago, when on his way over here he drove into a wagon which excited him,. and the excitement brought on an attack of apoplexy, which he suc cumbed to without ever gaining con sciousness. The deceased was a well known and highly respected citizen of Clarendon. He represented our county in the legislature one term, and was a successful planter.
