The exercises of thMInstitution wil h
Vesumed ona the 16 o January, 1847.
The intiresi mani*f ate4towards his en
terprise, has induced' the Principal to pur-,
1,ige the .stablishment, and he is now
eggdged In miakin extensive improvements
oun the buildings and grounds.
The location, after having undergone the
test of more than a half.ccutury, as a place
of resort for health, certainly needs no
hew commendation. And the writer, (hav
ing a very '5trong consumptive tendency.)
from his own experience during the last
very severe wi'ter, believes that the dry
ness of the atmosphere rendere this one of
the best winter, as well as summer resi
dances, that can be selected in the South
ern country. As regards health, economy,
and freedom from the influences that often
i-etard the progress of young ladies in vil
lages; and towns, this Institution present
peculiar advantages: to 'which may be ad
led, refined and intelligent society in its
vicnity.
It is the purpose of the Principal to
build up an Institution in wvhich a thorough,
and, at the same time, accomplished edu
cation may be obtained; and regarding all
education as radically defective, which
does not aim at the formation and training
or the moral character according to the
spirit and precepts og the Gospel, he will
endeavor to educate the hearts as well
as i-he minds andi manners of his pupils,
and to preonre them for becoming useful
and intelligent membilers of society.
Delicacy forbids the Principal to speak
nf the competency of himself and Mrs.
I)Boss to conduct suich an Instinimion,
but h pedues hw immself tha 1 Theacers
