Upon a hearing of the r case, the Court ordered that he be admitted to bail in the sum of three } hundred doliars for his appearance at court. Montgomery demanded tlie surrender of Clemens, and on his refusal, a light ensued, in which Ciemens was killed, and one of the bushwackers mortally wounded. Montgomery lias arrested several of the most prominent secessionists, and holds them as hostages for the safety of loyal citizens. New Orleans, Dec. 15.?The report is credited, that should the clergy be successful in raising a loan for Maximillian, he will remain at the head of the government.
