AN ACT TO ALT MR AND AMEND TIIE MILITIA
LAWS OF THE STATE.
Skc. I. Be it enacted l>y the Senate and llouso of
Representatives, now met and sitting in General Assembly,
and by the authority of the same, That Irom
and after the passage of this AetJ all free majo white
persons witliiu this State, between the ages of sixteen
and fifty, liot exempt from nctivo service without the
limits ol the District in which tipey reside, by the militia
laws of this State, shall l)bTable to active military
duly without the limits of the State at tho call of his
Excellency the Governor,

to order lbe arrest of all such as may be liable to

place such militia beyond his control, so as not In he
abjo to recall them at any moment whenever the necessities
of the Stale require it.
Sue. !. That all free male while persons within iho
tnfc$? between the ayes o1 sixteen and sixty, noleinraced
in the active militia, shall he liable to military
'duty in oases of alarm, invasion, insurrection or as the

State.

an exemption or detail in such special cases, either of
necessity or of public interest, as in ids judgment should
