A CARD. g
Tlio undersigned was nominated a3 a candidate for
this Congressional District some months ago, During t|
the last session of the Legislature the Districts of York sj
and Chester were attached to Fairfield, Richland, w
Kershaw and Sumter, and which now compose the n
Sixth Congressional District of the State. Since the 81
undersigned was put in nomination, the toamcs of other
gentlemen have appeared, and he is informed that 8/
a report is in circulation "that ho has withdrawn, or
intended to withdraw, from the contest before the day
of clectiou." It is true the undersigned has remained
at home attending to the business of his farm, and has ^
not been absent from his own lodgings but two nights ^
for the last three months. Last Sunday night he slept
in Columbia, and Monday night in Winnsboro. at his
old friend McMaster's HotcL Tuesday eve found him >
again at his Castle. r
The undersigned has not thought it necessary to ^
trampoose all over the Congressional District to tell ^
every body ho was a candidate, and to solicit their t<
votes. Upon such terms he would not, if he could, bo
elected. As soon, however, as the undersigned gets ?'
his oats soiced, and his plantation work straight, he will
try and make a flying visit to some of his friends in dif- D
" ferent parts of the Congressional District In the ni
meantime, ho assures all that lie will not be bluffed off
% from the field by any baok-handed blow, or combination
of parties. If not "first in the charge, he will be
