TTKDBR THE DIltKCTION OF DR, N. A. PRATT, CHEMIST FOR TUB Sulphuric Acid
SOLUBLEPp^IOhSPI^ th? form of SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE OP LIMB, or DIS
SOLVED BONE PHOSPHATE, ia th? basis of ?ll good Fertilisers, ?vt these ar? valuable in th?
ratio or Soluble Phosphoric Acid which ia in them. .
Tho Immeuse deposits of Pbosphatic Guanos which were discovered in 1867 in South Carolina,
by Dr. PRATT, consists unduly of Insoluble Phosphate ol Lime, which is wade available as a Fer
tiliter by being ground to powder, and reduced by Sulphuric Acid lo such ? condition a* lo make
ils insoluole phosphine s-lubie lu water, and thus made capable of being mkcn up by growing
plants. The insoluble Phospbuto foun-l in any commercial Fertiliter is of no more value to the
piani than tho original Phosphate rock. The greater the proportion of this Soluble Phosphate
which uny Fertilizer contains, tho less tho quantity required per aero, and consequently the cheapest
Fertilizer is that containing the highest por ceutnge of Soluble Phosphat-.
Impressed with these truths, the SULPHURIC ACID AND SUPER-PHOSPHATE COMPANY
have erected at Charleston tho first extensive Acid Chamber? South of Baltimore, and are able to
offer to planters ibo HIGHEST PER CEN TAGE OF SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE OF LIMB known
In any market.
Theil Fertilisers ar? odored under two forms :
1. ET1WAN. NO. 1 -?PURE SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE, guaranteed to contain 24 percent, of

2. ETI WAN. NO. 2.-PERUVIAN SUPEit PHOSPHATE gu?ranlo d to Contain 20 per cent,

Respecting tho merits of tho Ammoniated Solublo Super Phosphate of Limo which I used Inst
season upou my Cotton lands, I Would stale that it has oxoeoded my expectations, its application
having been attended with tho most favorable re.-ulis. I used il in connection vith the popular
Phosphates of tho day ami Peruvian Guano, ?ind UllllOsttuUllgty give tho preforenco lo Messrs. Wm.
Crichton A Soli's Ammoniated .Super Phosphate, willoh I regard as llio best fertilizer for Cotton that
bas been uttered to the public.

In reply lo your onquiry regarding Wm. Crichton A Son's Ammoniated Fertilizer >onl to mo last
spring. I can givo my own and Mr. J. M. Fowler's experiments. I trio I it on Cotton, side by side
willi Peruvian Guano-costing $112 per ton-und in ibo same quantity, mid the diibtronce was con
sidcrnble. being in favor of tho Fertilizer. The Cotton grow freu two to thi eu inches taller, and
was Ix.Heil in proportion.
Mr. Fowler, one of our host fnrinors, and closest and tunnt accurate observers, told me he tried
Peruvian Guano, Soluble Pacific, Wando Fertiliser, nnd six or ?even others, ibo cheapest of wblv
cost $05 pur ton, und Crichton's Fertilizer beat thom all.
W. B. CARSON.
JOHNSON'S, Barnwell Co., S. C., Dec. 28th, 1869.
I used Wm. Crichton A Son's Ammoniated Phosphate on both Corn mid Cotton, nt ibo ruto of J
2(10 pounds to tho aero. Thu results woro very good, although wo had a very dry season. lam
satisfied it is a valuable manure, as it was applied un poor land, which is Ibu placo to test anything
of this kind. I reeoiumonu ii to planter^ as a good fertilizer.

"This year I have experimented willi (cu diff?rent fertilizer.-, of thc most populnr brands-and
'.Wm. Crichton A Son's Aminnniulcd Soluble Super* Phosphate of I.i mo'' is at present only equalled
by two of tho manures. I am not quite thr ugh picking, but there is so little yet lo bu pickod, that
it will not mntcrially alter ti c above stnluinoi t or result.
I can without hesitation recommend this fertilizer to planters as a No. 1 Colton Manure.

"I used tho Ammonin'ed Siiper.Plmsphnlo nf Limo nf Wu . Cricktnu & Son on three acres of Cot

being mindi greater where tho foriilixcr was used, and paying me handsomely. I can cheerfully ru
commend it as a (irsi class fertiliser. The well known integrity of tho manufacturer* is a snfficieui
