There was u sehsationul incident in
tho second day's session of the dispensary

At the hearing yesterday and
this morning much was said with reference
to tho eotloment of Senator
Cole Please, a member of tho com*
muteo, Willi tormer Dispenser
Mmris, UK attorney for the Atlanta
Brewing Com puny.
licferenco was made by u witness
this morning that certain
witnesses had seen Blouse and they
stated that he would not appear.
Blouse arose from his seat and in
a determined manner said ho was
tired of having his name mentioned
in connection with the affair.
He said his name was being
brought into the matter by Lyon
and Chnstensen, who were his political
enemies of deepest dye and
one who said his conduct in Spartanburg
in connection with tho investigation
was other than that of
a gentleman was a liar.
Lyon said that he had always
held the gentleman in the highost
OHtoein, but since he learned of his
conduct m this city be was frank
to say thai his opinion had some
what changed
For a moment matters looked
squally.
W. A. Foster, clerk in Ferguson's
dispensary, testified this
morning that Ferguson had frequently
received cases of whiskey
from whiskey bouses. Ferguson

exchanged bottles for whiskey
in stock. lie admitted that the
whiskey received was also sold
In addition the witness stated
that the dispensary received presents
from whiskey houses, umbrellas,
matches sufes etc. Ho
said that Ferguson frequently
drank whiskey in the dispensary.
,1. T. Harmon dispenser at
No. 2, was put under tho searchlight.
He admitted during crossquestioning
of ,J. F. Lyor,member
of the committee, that all resourens
created by his dispensary were
not returned in account to headquarters.
Such foi example as
money recoived from sale of empty
cases.
The last witness of tho day was
II. B. Cunningham, now State
constable, who at one time was
applicant for a clerkship of dispensaries.
Ilo lator withdrew
the application and explaining his
course said that ho too* the step
at tha instance of C. O. Smith,
at that time chairman of the county

swore, paid him $50 to withdraw,

Interest is almost at fever heat
and there is considerable discussion
of first one phase and another.
The committee seems to be
in earnest and it is expected that
everything in the management of
the soiling of whiskey and beer in
this county will lie brought to
light and that the whitewash brush
will not housed, li is being freely
predicted that the startling and
glaring state of affairs developed
during to-day means the abolishment
of the dispensary whon it is
put to a vote of the people.
