by tho small army of volunteers,
after thirty-seven hours of con

Although tho polico and Medical
Examiner l'uino felt sure that
they huvo removed from the debris
all remains which were not

shortly will be instituted to satisfy

The revised list as given by tho

ARK YOU ENGAGED
Engaged people should remember,
that, alter marriage, many
quarrels can be avoided, by keeping
their digestions in condition
with Electric Bitters. 8. A.

says: "For years, my wife suffered
intensely from dyspepsia,

Told Her too Much.
"How did you rest last night."
As she spoko the hostess glanced
w'th a non-expectant look at
her guest and a show of assumed
interest.
The guest sunled grimly.
"I never slept worse in my
life," ho replied. "The bed was
poor, the sheets were sticky, the
room was poorly ventilated, and|
between the servants moving
aroudd overhead and the dog
barking underneath my window
I scarcely closed my eyes."
The hostess in a rage loft the
room and presently returned with
her husband.
"Put that man out of the house
at once!" she gasped.
"What!" exclaimed her ustonished
husband. "Has he insulted
you?"
"He has indeed," repliod bis
indignant wife. "Here 1 have
been keeping house for years and
ho is the only one who has dared
to toll mo the truth."

Washington, March 2. ? The
department of agriculture today
issued u report on the results of
recent 1 ivostigat'om hy Speciul
Agent Hunter of the bureau of
entomology, giving recommends
lions looking to averting damage |
t?y the (toll weevil. The report
says thot the work of the bureau
of entomology for several years
has indicated that '.hero is not
a remote probability that the boll
weevil even will bo exterminated
and thut as a matter of fact
injurious insects oven have been
[ exterminated. It says, however,
that although the very largo yiol-ls
of cotton of former times no longer
may be possible in the region
now infested by the boll weevil,
it is entirely feasible to produce
cotton at a margin of profit that
will compare favorably with that
resulting from the production of
most of staplo crops of the United
States by following what is known
as cultural method Th'S consists
ofchanges and modifications of the
systems of cott?n raising, including
the destruction of plants in the
fall, early planting,through cultivation
of the fields planting the
rows as far npait as feasible, thin
uing the plants in the rows and us
ing certain fertilizer.

Conditions in East Africa Not
Suited to King Cotton.
London, March 20.?The report
of the commissioner sent out
by the British government to in-,
j vestigate the cotton growing possibilities
in east Africa is published
this evening in the form of a
"White Paper." It sa^s: "Un-.
less difliculties which at present
are to be insuperable can be
removed c o t t on cultivation
in east Africa will never be undertaken
on any considerable scale."
First among the difficulties the
commissioners place labor, on account
of the upathy of the natives
and their disinclination to woik.
The total area devoted to cotton
groing under European supervision
can scarcel y exceod a few
thousand acres. Tho commissioners'
opinion is that the ouly solution
of the difficulty is indentured
labor from India or China.
