[For the Spartan.]
To the Voters of Spartanburg, j
Fiuow Citizens : There has nppcarcd a I .
circular, addressed to you, with au appeal of Jj
the frteiidt of L. C. Ezkll appended, setting
forth the moral character and business qualifications
of the said Ezkll, and as it sceins
that those gentlemen who signed the apponl,
did it without any expectation that their names
would be sent throughout the district in print, I
feel it due to myself and to those gentlemen, '
to say that the appeal with the signers, was
published without my knowledge or consent,
nor did I know there was such a thing in circulation
for some days after it was printed;
and while, when it came to my knowledge, I
i did thank, and now do thank all those gentlepf
men for what they were pleased to sign in my
behalf, I certainly Ehould not have printed it
