Long lint* of white divide my raven hair,
Tm Int approaoh of gradual decay ;
Thoee gloeey our la with whieh he used to play
la that ftur time whoa I was young and fair.
And am I not still fkir f They toll mo so.
What though the oolor from my cheek took
' Sight
Upon that awfbl, well-romembered night,
Whoa first I heard that be I loved lay low !
But peaoa has oome. My heart is almost light,
And many think that time has cured the
wound;
Like him, who with his eyes upon the ground
And halting aeeente, wooed me yesternight.
He thought I had forgot thee. 0 my tore!
What know ho of tho dew th^t drops unseen.
And hoops thy Under memory fresh and
frntUthfci day when wo shall moot again.
What know ho of tho tows that make my life
A long oad secret, ne'er to be revealed?
A fast - closed casket with thy signet sealed?
A widowhood ere yet I am a wife 7
Oh, when, at last, thon ask'dst beneath thy
breath
If I would wait a maiden for thy sake ;
And, oonscious of the answer I must make,
Smiled, ore I whispered, "Ever, love, till
death!"
So I have waited?and I still will wait
(For Hope is infinite and Mercy widel
Till kindly Death restore thee to thy bride,
And my lone heart no more be desolate.
Wait then, O heart;?again the morning sun
Slow through tho vanquished mists his pathway
wins;
Again, once more, my round of life begins.
Thank God that I can say, " Thy will be done."
