Lockhart, Nov. 7.?Your correspondent
has been in Lockhart since
March and has moved freely among
the people of the town, have tried to
study the town, the needs of the people
and have become profoundly convinced
that the need is a hospital to
caro for the sick a\l unfortunate. 1
\ Twenty thousand dollars would build
and equip a hospital that would meet |
' all our needs and we believe it ought |
to be done, not as a money proposition
but for the good that may be
done. I may not live to see it, but
the time will come when every town
will have a place to care for its own
sick and suffering. I would be glad
to see Lockhart Mill company set the
example by building a first class up
to-date hospital.
Mrs. Pearl Holcombe of Spartanburg
was- a visitor in the city yesterv
day.
John McCluney of Chester was
among his friends here Monday.
Clover Quinton Laurens visited relatives
here Monday.
I talked with a good farmer just
across the river yesterday and it is
his opinion that the building of the
/ , bridge here would bring thousands of
dollars to Lockhart each year. Then
there would be going out from Lockhart
one or two mail routes into Chester
county. It is a poor, miserable
way to get across the river now, but
the bridge will be built.
