NEWS AND HERALD. ---------- T P'BLISHED SEMI-WEEKLY, ben -BY- rul WINNSBOEO PUBKISHING Co. Wi -- sitil the J. FRANK FOOSHE, . . - EDITOR. Cal city TERMS, tX ADVANCR: to] one Year,...-----------.-....... Months. WINNSBORG. Ot ell -901 -pe Friday, JanUarY . 1901 lie . . - --: - -to TE NEWS AND gggALD CHANGES t RAND Fox a little over eleven years I have been editor of TE NEWS DHERALD and I feel as though I was parting tb with an old friend In retirig from I the active control of the editorial column. For two or three years I have felt the impossibility of devoting to the work the time it deserved on acconut of my law practice, and after t this lijue I surrender the editorial Uf t well as the businesc management of t the papeir to Mr. J. Frank Fooshe, C who bi *leased my interest. Mr. Fooshe is active, energetic and entbu siastic, and devoting his time exclu sively ti journali-m I ftel sure that TgE Nuws AxD HiERA will be mucb improved under his management. W. D. DoU@LAsS. The above from the retiring Editor explains the change that has baen made in the editori'l and business manage meat of TiE NEwS AND HERALD. As sociated with me will be Mr. Jas. Q Davis who has at various times been identified with the paper. In assuming entire control of the paper we bespeak the patronage of subscribers and ad vertisers throughout the county, whose iuttrests we shall ever endeavor to serve. J. FRANKFoosfE. SEI.WEEELY TZr NEWS AN HERALD will now be published as an ,ll-home-print semi weekly paper paper. Both the Ti Weekly and the Weekly will be dis continued The s3me paper will be issued to both town and county sub scribers. Tuesday and Friday will be the days of mailing. This change is made with a view to giving better service to all subscribers. While our sentiment appeals to us to continue the Tri-Weekly, which has been a welcome visitor to many homes Img town for a period of fifty-six yeara, wre believe that is in the line of pro. - nuethis last rf te a papers awe f.rerly. Thepr' dollar and fifty cent~~ whom we have spoken ~m I- change have aprvdiand we that it will receiV the former subicribers of the Tri Weekly. The subscribers of the Weekly, we are sure, will he pleased withf.he change as they will now ge~t two papers a week instead of one and this without a cent of additional cost. The all-home-print feature will enable us to have more space for county news and will also make it possible for us to give fresher general news. Our advertisers should be the most pleased with the change. The number of copies circulated per week with no change In the present subscription list will be increased fully 3 per cent. There will also be an additional gain to them in the display of their ads, as having the control of all the space we can always place alljadvertising matter nearer the reading matter. Thie, as all advertisers know, increases the possibilities of the sdvertisemenlt being read, or in other words increa'es the value of the advertising space. All in all, we believe that both sub scribers and advertisers will be pleased with our effort to give an all-home print semi-weekly at the low price ol one dollar and fifty cents per year. We hope for an expression of their ap preciation in increased patronage in the way of subscriptions and adver tisements. FIuIELD CONTrY is our politics. TurE Boers are not yet whipped. There now remain bt about five hundred receipts to be written, and these are principally for small taxpayers.
