The lady of the house went to get

returning, found that her own infant
which she had left asleep in the cradle,
had been taken away, and negro babv

creates great excitement among the

Evidently the country girl who went
down to the city recently had these deli
nitions in her mind. A young gentlonuin
was to Escort her some distance
through the town, and not wishing to
walk, lie remarked, "Hold on, Mary,

wounded modesty replied, "Oh, George,

Richmond, from which the Northern
radical journals evidently take great
