It? hnAX-PAYERS ARE HEREBY NO-B
T1FIED that I will continue to receive
returns tiutil the 15th of May next,
. after whicli timC the books tfill be kept
open for the receipt of the action tits due
until the 1st of July iiext, when they will
positively be closed, and executions issued
against all defaulters.
The Act of December, 18G5, "(o raiSe
supplies," expressly prescribes that the
following funds, and they ouly, shall be
received in payment of tuxes, viz: '
Gold aud silver coin, United States
Trt asurv notes, or notes declared to be a
h-rrjil tender by the Government of the
. United States, such bills receivable as
were issued under the authority of the
Inst Legislature, pay certificates of Jurors
and constables for attendance at the
Court of Common Pleas, pay certificates
of bearers of votes for Governor and
Lieutenant-Governor and members of
Congress, udJ pay certificates.of mem-,
bets of the last scftsiou of the Legislature.

In no'case will notes of National batiks,
or any other funds than those enuiticra*
ted, be received i" payment of taxes.
