year 1804, and applications for licenses
by all persons engaged in any hind of j
business from May 1, 18G-:?, to May 1,
1SGG. All persons engaged in any trade,
business or profession, such as Bankers,
Lawyers, Physicians, Dentists Architects,
Civil Engineers, Builders and
Contractors, Wholesale or Retail Dealers,
Horse Dealers, Distillers, keepers
of Hotels, and eating houses, Insurance
Agents, Manufacturers, Pedlcrs, Apothecaries,
Photographers, Butchers, owners
of Stallions and Jacks, common carriers,
and all other occupations are required
to make application to me for a
license.
Manufacturers, Distillers &c., must
make their monthly returns.
Holders of Cotton, Turpentine &c.,
must make returns of the same to me.
Persons who had in their possession
on the first of May I860, any carriage,
gold watch, Piano Forte, gold or silver
plate &c., will make return of the same
to me.
I will be, for the present, at my office
in Camden from 9 o'clock a. m. until
3 p. in.
Penalty for doing business without
license, two years imprisonment and
five hundred dollars fine. For failure
to make return of income, twenty-five j
per. ceut, will be added to the assessment.

The Tax-payers of Kershaw
District
ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT

Taxes will he opened in Camden, at the
store of Mr. James Jones, on Monday the
2nd of April, rind will be kept open until
the loth day of May next. All partics
failing to make their returns previous
to that time will subject themselves to
the penalties imposed by law.

insurance companies incorporated

11th. The amount of all sales of cotton
between the 1st May, 1865. and 1st
October, 1865.
12th, The amount of all sales of crude
turpentine, spirits of turpentine and rosin
between the 1st May, 1805, and 1-t October,
1805, not including tbe product of

All male residents of the Distrct between
the ages of twenty-one and sixty
years, both white and Colored, whether
property-holders or not, arc also required

The Tax Actsof 1848 and 1865 require
