\ I Interesting From Washv ington. We get the following items fro til the Washington correspondent of the "Baltimore Sun" A proclatnatiou may shortly he expected from the President declaring the insurrection of rebellion in the South to be at an end. I can say that the President endorses -the statement of Governor Perry of South Carolina concerning bis (the President's) views as to the admission of Southern representatives to Congress. The President holds that the mass of them can take part in the organizatian'of the Uousc. I need not repeat the usual argument in this behalf, which he fully agrees fo! It is thought by some that the vic:ory ' of the republicans in New York and New Jersey will so elate them that they will "rudely repulse tlic Southern representatives from seats in Congress. But the better opinion is that their assured as* 'cendency will be best maintained by acting with moderation and justice. Any 'course that shall go to -discourage and depress businesa interests in the South, "will excite so strong a sentiment of sympathy among the business men of the North as may rc :dily change political ^results at the next elections. -I doubt not the President will urge the ^reception of the Southern representatives ;and will make a key point of it in politics if it is found necessary. Those' who arc 'opposing this feature of his policy will 'never be warm in their support of him '"hereafter. He may overlook or disregard matters that he conceives to be of Secondary importance to the great pur-, pose of having the Southern people again represented in'Congress, but for the latter object he will be firmly fixed in principle and tenacious to the last of 'effecting it. * ? The Fenian Excitement in Canada. '?The good people of Canada are very much excited over the late movements of -the Fenians in the United States, They arc really impressed with the belief that their owd soil is likely to be invaded by a mighty host who shall make tbeir welkin ring in a land beyond the water. The ?fficials. it appears, have taken steps to prevent any sudden surprise from the Fenians,-and have published to the world at large their approbations of the future. In the meantime, the brotherhood are steadily and persevering]^ at at work in New York and e'sewherr perfecting their arrangements* What, will eoino of all this excitement- will, doubtless, develop. 9 Nashville at the commencement of the war had 2S,00C inhabitants, it has now over SO,000.
