Politeness.
No better evidence of good breeding, of the
true gentleman enn be giv. 11, than that civility,
, courtesy and complaisance, which, in refined
society or among those who prefer and esteem
each other in honor, is always practised.
All are entitled to a worthy consideration;
but Old Age and Indies especially should receive
from us our most gallant acknowledgements
of deference, and he is to be pitied who
forgets or neglects his duty iu such a particular.
The conventional rules of society mark out
the manner of our going among men, but wc
should not need an order of exercises to gov'crn
lis in our relations with our fellow-beings.
If rightly impelled wo shall be found evev excelling
in all that adds to a polished and commendable
bearing one toward another.
