York. January 26, 1850. What could be more 1
conclusive? t
" It is seldom we permit, ourselves to occupy
a space in these columns to speak in praise of any
article in the patent tnebicine way; but when we
see the life of a fellow-creature saved by the use of
any medicine whatever, we consider it as our right,
it not our duty, to give a simple statement 8
of facts, that others may, in like manner, be bene- ^
fitted. The cose which has induced us to pen
this article was that ofa young lady ofour acquaintance,
who by frequent exposure to tiie night air,
contracted a Cold which settled on the Lungs be- ~
fore its ravages could be stayed. (This occurred j
two years ago this winter) Various remedies
were used, but with very little effect or benefit.?
The Cough grew worse, with copious expectoration,
and the sunken eye, and pale, hollow cheeks, .
told plainly that pulmonary disease was doing its c
worst on her delicate frame. The family physi- (
cian was consulted, and although lie would not admit
to the young lady that she really had the Consumption,
yet he would give 110 encouragement as
to a cure. At this crisis her mother was persuaded
to make use of a bottle of Dr. Rogers Com- "
pound Syrup of Liverwort anAfltor, and we are
happy to state she was perfectly cured in less than
three months by this medicine alone, alter even
hope was destroyed. It is useless to comment 011
such a case as this, for the simple truth will reach 1
where polished fiction never can. If any doubt
the authenticity of this statement, let them call at
