"We have uniformly refrained from recommending to
the public any of the various Patent Medicines of I he day,
unless thoroughly convinced of tlieirvalue. Among those
we consider worthy of notice is the CCerinun Bitters, invented
by Dr. lloofland, and prepared by Dr. Jackson,in Philadelphia.
One instance in particular, in which the superior
virtues of this medicine have been tested, has fallen
under our observation. During the last summer, a son of
% 4Mr. Abraham Ui*bill. of this country, was very seriously
afflicted with Liver Complaint, ami after trying in vain
various Remedies, he purchased a bottle of the Bitten and
?tw n?in?r it. was so much relieved of his distressing mul

to health.

"We again call attention to the removal of the German
Medicine store, the prioci|?l depot for the sate of Dr Iloofland's
German Bittern, from 278 Race to 120 Arch street,
one door below Sixth. Owing to the increased demand
for this medicine, and for the accommodation of his numerous
patients, Dr. Jackson has been compelled to occupy a
larger store. We wish him success in Ins new quarters;
he in deserving of if. Tbu Bitters Mixture is without douht
th^graatest medicine extant for diseases of the Liver aud
Bowels. A stubborn ease of Chronic Diarrlicea has coige
under our notice, wlierein the patient had exhausted the
Materia Med hats of the different schools of medicine with
no apparent benefit. He was induced to use these bitters,
and a few bottle* of them have entirely cored hum Many

as to require its use Dr. Jackson possesses the original
unpublished receipt of Dr. Ilooflnnd, and he prepares
this medicine with this care. Those purchasing should
call at his More, or see that Ids name is written upon the
Wrapper outside, and blow it in the bottle, as imitations of
all good articles are common."

Messrs. A. B. &. D. Sands?Oed lenient Having
used and Mjtncssed the effects of your va uable
preparation of Sarsaparilla ou different persons
in d tferenl parts of the southern country,
viz?Vigima, Louisian, Texas and Mexico, 1 fee!
much pleasure in stating the high opinion entertained
ol its medtcinol value, lu my own case, it
acted almost like a charm, removing speedily, the
enervated state of the system, and exciting in the
most agreeable manner, a tonic and invigorating
influence.
Your Sarsaparilla is highly approve*' and extensively
used by tin; army in Mexico, and uiy cousin,
Gen. Zachary Taylor, has for the past five years
ticeu in the habit ol using it, and recommends the
same; he and myself adopted the article at the
same t tine, and it is now considered an utmost in
dispensable article iu the army. In conclusion,!
would say that the better it is known, the more
highly it will he prized, and trust that its health
restoring virtues will make it generally known
ihriiunhouL the leu<rth and breadth of our widelv
extended country. t ou a very respectfully,
