LONDON LIKES FROGS, SNAILS 1

Dally Orders Received by Airplane ,
Kxpreee Hardly Keep Up Now |
With the Demand.
London.?Englishmen are developing
a taste for frogs and snails, and t
It is said that more snails and frogs {
are now eaten in the Cafe Parisian of j
the Suvoy hotel here than in all the
restaurants of Paris.
Chef Grnnjon of the Savoy receives
every day 200 frogs and 200 snails I
from France, where they are caught
in the vineyards and live on Insects
and grape leaves. The dally supply,
which comes by airplane express, is
about to be doubled, according to Jean
Sovranl, manager of the Cufe Parlslen
in the hotel, who says that the demand
is growing, and only a day or so ago
Sir Hall Caine, who had a taste for
frogs, was disappointed to learn that
the day's supply was long before exhausted.
A delicacy as fascinating as young
quail?frogs and a little chablls?
there Is nothing better, was Sir Hall's
description of Escargots Bougulgnonne,
as the dlsli Is designated -on
the menu.
The Savoy mannger hus had difficulty
In Increasing his dally orders for
snails and frogs to keep pace with the
demand in London, nnd It is declured
that the Englishman and not the
Frenchman is now the lurger consumer
of these delicacies.
