CO-OPERATIVE. MARKETING <
The campaign in Chesterfield county
for co-operative marketing begins
Wednesday, January 25th. A
leries of meetiugs, two a day, have
>een arranged to cover the county.
\t these meot.ngs the plan of organization
fend its aim will be fully
?xplained by competent speakers.
mere are fifteen states included in
the great cotton co-operative selling
srganizaiton. Of this number ten
have already signed up and work is
progressing rapidly in the remaining
live.
This movement is regarded by coU
ton growers and buyers alike as by
far the most likely of success of any
agricultural movement yet attempted.
It is to be an organization as wide
as the cotton belt for the purpose of
marketing cotton along intelligent,
business lines.
When this organization is complete
and it will be this spring whether
Chesterfield county comes in or not,
the cotton farmer will no longer go
from buyer to buyer asking for bids.
No longer will he be in ignorance of
the quality and value of his own cotton,
but his representative will classify
it for him and then tell the manufacturers
what it is worth and what
he will pay to get it.
That in a nutshell, is what the coperative
marketing of cotton means.
Ten of the cotton statesaare already
organized, satisfactory progress
is being made in the others,
among which is South Carolina.
