> WILL BOYD ESCAPES .
^Vfll Boyd, who is charged with
murder in connection with the death
of Ganson and Relias Funderburk,
and who was adjudged insane and
sent to the Sthte Insane Asylum,
made his escape Saturday night.
Little is known here of the circumstances
of his escape. A telegram was
^ received by Sheriff Grant on Monday
stating he was at large and a letter
followed which said he received aid
from another inmate.
If Boyd was not insanc when taken
from the county jail to Coulmbin,
he was certainly a good actor.
If captured he will undoubtedly be,
tried on the murder charge.

HISTORY OF THE WILLING
WbRKERS SOCIETY
The Wesley Senior Class of Friendship'Methodist
Sunday School met at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Streater on Thursday evening, April
7th, 1921 and organized themselves
into a "Willing Workers" Society.
The organization meeting elected

The Society began with 19 members
and at present has a membership of
23.
The aim of the organization chiefly
was to purchase a piano and let the
same be donated as a gift to Friendship
Church in the name of the
"Willing Workers'/ Society,
The piano has already been placed
in the church and the Society gives,
at regular intervals, some form of entertainment
as a means of raising the
required amount for meeting the installments
as they fall due.
Each member is assqssed twenty
five cents a month and has its meeting
on Thursday evening before the
second Sunday of each month,
v The Society meets with the various
nembers of the organization each
nonth nnd renders programs such as
ire selected by the program commit;ee.

seems to have originated in a closet.

The pupils of Wamble Hill school
rendered A Thanksgiving program on
last Wednesday afternoon. Every
player, singer and speaker did well.

WHOOPING COUGH

Strange, is it not how fallacious
and pernicious ideas still at this late
day possess the minds of our people
Take for example the erroneous ideas
which even educated and otherwise
intelligent people entertain relative
to that most treacherous and fatal dis-'
case of childhood?whooping cough. 1

known to all, but is, unfortunately,!
considered by most persons a very,
simple disease of childhood which in '
their opinion, does not require the at- J
tention of a physician. This, however,
is not the case, as whooping cough
with complications 'is a very fatal af- 1 .
fection, ranking first among the acute
infections as a cause of death in children
under five years of age." The :
earliest and most serious considers- ^
tion should be given patients attack- ,
ed with this disease, and it should be
isolated and quarantined as rigidly
as any disease I know of, for its effect
is as fatal and serious conditions suf- .
fered after the disease is as numerous 1
and as severe as can well be imagined.
Among the complications and af- I
ter affects of whooping cough may be
mentioned hemorrhages of various
kinds, death from spasm of the '
throat, convulsions, hemorrhages of
the brain, rarely paralysis, marked ?
wastings of the body, numerous and
varied diseases of the lungs which are (
extremely serious and are responsible
for 9 out of 10 deaths due to this' I
disease, asthma, serious and offtimes
permament, heart troubles, tuberculosis,

ELLIE SELLERS CUTS
MACK JENKINS
Ellie Sellers came near cutting
Mack Jenkins to death late Monday
afternoon at a f?in house in Ruby.
Mr. Jenkins was badly cut about
the throat. He promptly received
medical attention and it is believed
ind hoped he will recover from the
Moody assault .at the hands of Sellers.
It is said that Jenkins* was at the
rin house and that Sellers came up
mil spoke to Jenkins and immcdiatey
the attack was made by Sellers. It

(Sellers) children on Sunday while

Nothing was done about the assault
