I Miss Mary I'usser spent Thanksgiving with her sisters, Misses Bessie and Lessie at Charlotte, where they are attending Queen's College. Mr. Walter D. Campbell has accepted a position with the Bank of Jefferson. Dr. R. M. Newsom, of Ruby, was in town the early part of the week. Mr. C. G. Morgan, of Pageland, attended to business here Wednesday. Mr. T. T. Lucas, of Charlotte, was in town on business this week. County Treasurer J. A. Welsh is on his rounds through the county collecting taxes. The next Lyceum entertainment announced by publicity expert B. J. < Douglass will be The Ithicans, des- ? cribed as a real male quartet. This quartet is made up of four ex-soldiers, who before the war were in the entertainment field and who made good on the Lyceum platform. They also give character delineations, enact sketches and playlets; in fact , they are entertainers in every sense of the word. They will appear at the " High School Auditorium on December 8 at 8 P. M. Rev. B. J. Guess has returned from Georgetown, where he attended the Mehtodist conference. Rev. Mr. Guess will preach at Zoar next SunSunday afternoon. ^Mr. A. A. McKeown, District Agent of the Extension Department of Clemaon College, was in Chesterfield Tuesday conferring with County Agent W. J. Tiller. It is reported that a carpenters' strike is on in Chesterfield. Building operations have therefore been postponed until lapor and capital can get together and settle their differences.
