REPUBLICAN SENATOR
PLEADS FOR COTTON FARMER |
Employment of war finances cor-I
poration_ machinery to facilitate
movement of crops and relieve the financial
tension throughout the country
was recommended by Senator
William M. Calder, of New York,
chairman of the Senate committee on
reconstruction, in a telegram sent to
David F. Houston, Secretary of the
nS '
.Treasury.
The telegram sent by Senator Calder
follows:
"Bankers and business men
through central and Southern sections
declare commercial channels
congested with unprecedented crops
of cotton .wheat, animal productions
and so forth, and financial tension extreme.
Believe this dangerous situation
can be relieved by appointment
of war finance corporation machinery
to facilitate foreign distribution. This
machinery is in your hands. Cannot
too strongly urge its immediate appointment."
Senator Calder, declared that

war finance corporation to prevent
stagnation of business and consequent
unemployment of labor. "We
have a surplus of commodities and
foreign countries have a great need
for it," he said, "but they have no
money with which to buy. It has been
strongly urged by producers of animal
and agricultural products in the
cities which we have visited that we
should make every effort to revive
our export trade through the agency
of the war finance corporation, which
is able to extend credit to American
exporters and bankers upon good foreign
securities. Delegations of cotton
growers have come to me in New
Orleans, Memphis and St. Louis; representatives
of farmers and wheat
growers have come to me in Kansas
City, Omaha and Des Moines; producers
of animal products in Kansas
City, Omaha and Denver, all with the
same story?that there is a backing
up of trade from your ports of export,
and that if this continues and
increases it will bring about serious
consequences of unemployment and
financial strain."

BAD BREATH|
Bad Breath Is Usually the Result of
Improper Action of the
Digestive Organs
Over-eating and lack of care of the
body naturally congests the stomach'
and other digestive organs. To overwork
them means to abuse them.
The natural result is an accumulation
of poisons that pollute the system and
produce foul and illsmelling gasscs,
commonly known as bad breath.
Nothing is more repulsive and disgusting.
It is the first indication of
an unhealty body. At the first sign,
fortify yourself against it.
Try SarDraS. A scientific preparation
of medicinal roots and herbs
containing no alcohol, especially suit
i-d for the invigoration of the organs
of digestion and assimilation. A
tablespoorfful before each meal will
invigorate the glands of the stomach,
liver and kidneys, improve the digestion
and purify the blood. Mere
laxatives do not go far enough. A
proper use of this treatment will give
you a clean body, normal digestion
and a sweet pure breath. All dealers
and jobbers.

TONING UP BACKWARD PIGS
In spite of the best care many
fall pips will emerge from the winter
looking1 pretty sorry. Often they will
i be shaggy-haired, skinny, tails minus
i the artistic curl, dejected-looking and
I seemingly fit subjects for the ax. But
the warmth of spring, proper care,
and feeding will do wonders for them.
I have had fall pigs that didn't look
like five cents in April, yet by June
they tipped the scales at 225.
The first thing to do with a backward
pig is to free him from worms.
When the worms are gone, one of the
standard conditioners should be used.
Wood ashes, salt and soft eoul should
be where the pig can help himself at
pleasure. The backward pig must have
access to pasture. Green food is one
of the best conditioners. In addition,
the exercise is good for him.
Ground feed, such as oats or oats
j and corn, works wonders with runty
I pigs. I make sure that they have all
I the tankage they want. Nothing seems
| to revive a pig's spirits like tankage.
| The pigs should also have all the corn
! they want. Unless diseased, the pigs
i will lose their long hair, brighten up
! and develop an appetite that is alarm,
ing. It is then but a matter of a couple
of months till they will be ready
for the market at 200 pounds or better.
