The Thrift Stamps in turn can be converted into War Savings StampsDistribution of the grenades in the several Federal Reserve Districts w:l; be left in the hands of the district Sav ings Directors. There the nionuv will he counted. If the child has saved enough to buy a War Savings Stamp the grenade-hank will be his. but in all events the cash must be Invested in Thrift Stamps if not enough hae been saved to pay for a War Savings Stamp. The grenade-hanks are of considerable value and will be splendid souvenirs of the gr<?at war, and the War Loan Organization of the Fifth Federal Reserve District is anxious to place them in the hands of as many children as possible. The British War Savings Committee has become a permanent institution in Kngland and the following declaration lias been issued explaining the English attitude toward thrift: "Quite as important, both as a source of reventu and as a social movement, is the restraint of lux ng/, and growth of economy and iplicity of life among the well-toOtherwise goods and services II he wasted Wnr sarinen ad es to all clauses and appeals to Incomes." CITATION The State of South Carolina, County of Chesterfield. By M. J. Hough, Probate Judge: Whereas, Mrs. Alzora Raley made suit to me to grant her Letters of Administration of the Estate and Effects of A. J. Raley, deceased. These are therefore to cite and admonish all and singular the kindred and creditors of the said A. J. Raley, deceased, that they be and appear "before me in the Court of Probate, to Lfc. -i? m the Fly, l ' HOWSAVINGSllABIT ' HELPS EVERYBODY Money Invested This Year in Thrift Stamps Returns In Five Years j Vastly Increased. j On Npw Vno r'n '1??? 1 rkOrt ? ? . r. i.ajr l Jt.i, HlPfC WUI I" begin :t remarkable series of divi 1 dend payments to American people. I Hundreds of millions of dollars of War Savings Stumps sold during 1918 will then be redeemable. On each News Year's day thereafter for a number of years there will undoubtedly be huge reti..ns to the American people of the money borrowed with interest. These great dividend days bring American bankers new opportunities and also responsibilities. How can new thrift habits be linked to thrift institutions? How can this money, (lie product of ttirift, be mobilized for further work? Already the bankers sire working 'with the Treasury Department to continue thrift habits. Fur people who -save money there is a wide range :>t thrift institutions that will take ; barge of funds, put them to work i safely, and return good earnings, as ! (he government plans to borrow by j general education of thrift in every kind, so the banks and thrift institu- J ions ean aid the government by encouraging general thrift and building bigger business themselves. One of the first steps to be taken by nankers is that of spreading informs- . (ion about banks, life insurance, buildng and loan associations, federal farm ioans, and all other thrift institutions. The best way to meet Uncle Sam's ,, borrowing needs is to promote thrift >:i the broadest possible lines. Kvery dollar deposited in a savings bank becomes available fur national y finance. Every life insurance policy sold is equivalent to an indirect loan , to the government. Kvery obligation assumed by thrifty people such as a building mortgage is a stimulus to.* production and saving, and therefore, j c as much a national service as the <!. ! ?' rect purchase of government securi j * ties. In placing these matters clearly jl before everybody in his community ; the banker will live up to his opporitt-i ; nities and his responsibilities in the 0 new thrift moven p t. When the billion dollar New Year Days arrive ho will be ready.
