I respectfully ask to be renominated and re-elected to Congress from this District and agree to abide the result of the Democratic Primary. Election. I will not be a ble to spend much time in the District this summer, because of the great amount of important legilation growing out of the war situation, but will attend meetings whenever posible. Byars, land appraiser for the Farm Lo.?n Bank, has been in this community for several days, looking over the lands of the membets of the Patrick Association, and hus completed the organization with eighteen members and an aggregate of about thirty thousand dollars in | . . loans. The men spent tl day working on a cabin for the Bov Scouts and the Boys Class in tla Sunday school. A liberal supply of fish was secured and the entire patty, thirty-three in number, enjoyed a fish dinner prepared on the ground. JOHN BARENT1NE Word has been received in Chesterfield of the death in Clio early Wednesday morning of .Mr. John Ba routine. lie was the brother of Mr. L). M. Iiarentine, late of Chesterfield. lie was 74 years of age at the time of his death and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Covington, of Baltimor . Mrs. Tom Carrington, of Society Hill, Mrs. D. H. I.ancy and Mrs. Ben Jlohcrson, of this place were at his bedside when the end came. The news of Mr. Barentine's death was received in Chesterfield with much sorrow as he had many relatives and friends here.
