stock either, but still have plenty. }(

NI US WHEN IN TOWN
:>nes Co
To be brutally frank about It, the 1
t|uestion now before Chesterfield is,'
" who is the ugliest man in town?"
We didn't bring up this question; the
Red Cross did. They have an election
on at their booth this week. The
man Kitting the most votes will receive
a handsome box of candy by
way of compensation. You can \<>te
as many times as'you wish (hut you
must qualify each time). Here is an
opportunity for everyone to show his
best friend what he thinks of hini.
We are continually hearing stories
of how some of our people are using
their money this winter none to wisely.
We have been told of various
men who own neither home nor land, |
t?ui nave occn renting or shu/< -crop-1
:>ing all their lives .-.who have this year j

luxuries that will soon become
a burden to them instead of
nvesting in property that they can

D. T. Teal. There ought to be a hundred
men in this county this year to
follow this example and pave the
way to independence. There never
was and probably never will be a bet- ^
ter opportunity.
We didn't like to be selfish about
it, but can you blame ut? We taw
our opportunity and prevailed upon
Santa Claua to leave nearly his whole
pack of Christmas presents with ua.
So, after reading our adv. on another
page of this paper you had better
come to see ut while the pretty ' 1
things last. Lowry-Lilea Co., Morven,
