M- Odom has been having some good work done on Main St. during the last week. Owing to the recent heavy rains all the ditches are filled and streets washed. This is to he decided by vote at the AmusU Theatre. There is a five pound box of fine candy on display in the window of this popular show house that will also go to the win ner of the contest. King has made two trips to Lynches rivor to meet the Lancaster county officials relative to replacing the bridges across that stream. Mr. King made the last trip to Cooks Mill Monday. Neither time however, did the Lancaster officials happen to be on baud tho thev had promised to do so. The management feels constrained to offer an apology for the kind of paper furnished its subscribers this week and for some weeks past. The rural carrier has to make a wide detour. We do not know whether the property owners or the County should make repairs but some one should do so at once. This is the orphanage supported by the Masons and is one of the fiuest charitable institutions ic the country. It merits youi support. He answers to the name of Marion Robinson and is the son "Baboon" Robinson, a preacher of note hereabouts. Marion, it seems, has been a successful fanner over in Georgia until something got loose upstairs and he returned to his old home. Early Monday morning Marion went to the stable of Tom tlarrell and led out a mule. This animal he took to the place of Fred Redfearn, where he found some harness and a buggy. It didn't bother Marion that the harness was half of a double set. He came through town at a two-for ty gate, driving with one line. When Rural Policeman J. T. Conference At Shiloh The Chesterfield County Metht odist Sunday School Conference, which convened at Shiloh church ^ last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, was a success from every k view point. Owing to the cong tinued rains, and consequent bad roads several of the Sunday Schools of the county were not represented. The reports renI dered show the Sunday schools } of the county are in flourishing condition. Several of them, including St. Paul, Chesterfield, have a memr j. bershiD as largo or larger than the church membership.
