make a man wise. Think: Lazarus
who was at the rich man's gate
was wiser than that rich man.
Wisdom is a God-given gift. Any
man mav have it if ho isofv?? *o
God. 'Did you ever hear of highly
educated people, wealthy people,
, including high officials, committing
suicide? A wise man will not
commit suicide. What an individual
finally does when you measure
.his behaviour by the measiir
ing rod of God, the standards of
the teachings of Jesus determines
his wisdom.
Some men who nray most and
who are most sincere in the service
of t.'ne church, who proceed by;
thq guidance of the spirit, are the
least considered at times. God
'looks on and in a man's heart. As j
a ii de, the world looks for sha-|
dow s and not substances. The>
World thinks a man? who is and
humble Christian is an easy prey j
exploitation and for being kicke.h
around. When a man shows, fight'
oh the least provocation and will
take people to the courts, the
world will either fear or. respect
him. But the humble Christian
who refuses to seek justice in
church affairs at the hands of the
courts, even tough he is very useful,
is often not considered as he
should be.
In some cases, when a person
uffers a damaging reaction as we
aid in the last issu.e, it is his own
^ ault. In . some other cases he is
given a deal like was given to
Daniel who was cast into the den
of ;ions. I cannot understand why
some people do not boost righteous
men. On the other hand, IT

We attended the-Palmetto AME
Conference branch annual meeting
in &t. Peter Church, North Charleston,
last week. Mrs. Flossie
"WiMon, who is the effirient president,
derlared in;her opening address
that the state missionaries
are expecting to rise to greater
heights under the leadership of
Mi t. I. H. Bonner.
The session was largely attended
1y Ministers and delegates. The
(work shop would compare favorably
with the General conference
woik shop. All the teaches weregood
in their lectures. We' were
greatly impressed with the address
es of Mrs. B. J. Fealia and Mrs. F.
~J7 X^reenwood.
Mrs. I. H. Bonner, wife of Bishop
Bonner and the efficient state
supervisor of-the AME Church of
South Carolina, explained, the new
laws pertaining to the missionary
-society. She stressed Unity and

Mis. Jenkins, state president and
wife of presiding elder Jenkins.

I There was a minister who was
ambitious and full of anxiety fori
the good of the church. Many of
.his fellow ministers and superior
churchmen organized to keep him
down. The Bishop loVed this man,
but the organized, malicious p1"pagandn/
kept the man down. That
Bishop died about 13 ears ago and j
went to Heaven. In Heaven his 1
-eyes lrecame~opened and he saw j
the evil that was being done to j
this innocent man. He came back j
to this man in t.he spirit and said, I
"I did not know men had organiz- j
ed to make you suffer. Also, -I did J
not know that you were such a
bright star as you are, but! know
it now". Let us be serious about
the church and the Christian life.
Our great A.M.E. Church and
school are-going through a reformation
of a kind. There has been,
j and may be a few moTS* clashes
(before everything finally quiets I
I down. The church and school, Allen
University, and the connection
1 think, will enter into a glorious
day when the storm subsides.

The conference was a lovefeast.
Members petitioned for his return
another year, the Officials urged
me to return his another year, giv?
ing reason for their request. But
in some , quarters, the pastor advocntcs
hifnself with the officers to
return, then it soon backfires on
j him. They whisper to the elder not
to return him which we did just
to please him.
Next Sunday we will be at Man'ning,
Dr. K. L. Moore pastor. He
is a prince among pastors. The
members idolize him.
We are planning to spend sever.
al nights with St. ftlark. the Rev~
W. K. Wilspn pastor. Rev. C. C.
Dixon, an evangelist of the Wateree
District, will have charge of
the meeting. The friends m and around
Manning should go out every
night. He is young, but a great
evangelist. *
