ORANGEBURG, S. C. ?T\
Washington Negro woman has
charged three Orangeburg County
white men ran over and killed
her nephew last month "because
of his race and color." But a
highway patrolman who investigated
denies the charges.
Mrs. Queenie Gleaton of Washington
i-i quoted in a remit rrl
ition of the Afro-American as
saying three white men in a pickup
truck ran down her nephew,
Wilton Gleaton, 29, on a paved
road near Neeses on May 18.
She asks the paper to help her
contact the FBI or anybody who
can help pet the State of South
Carolina to make an arrest in
~ the killing.
Cpl. J.F. Ready says his investigation
shows Gleaton came to
his death by injuries sustained either
when he fell from the pickup
truck in which he was riding
