at the Wateree and Orangeburg
district conferences, presided
over by l>rs. W. J. Robinson and
Parker, -Both-had-great ses*
sions. There, were plenty candida
tes in the Qrangeburg _and Mann?
ng districts, but none are turowint;
mud at each other. 10r. Parker
brought bis candidal"* to he Wateree
district, arranged with I)r. Robinson
to hear them at once, in or
der to rcturn^in time to hear their
key note sermon at 12 o'clock,
while Dr. J. W. Kershaw, who is al
sp a-eandidate, presided for Dr.
Parker while he and his candidates

We preached Dr. Robinson's
key note sermon and the offering
whs larger than the Manning District,
hut the Manning district
will get even with the Wateree district
next year. The welcome reception
of the wateree district was
excellent,' hut we are forced to men
tion brother M. G. McFadden who
swayed his audience ' in science
I without a written paper and dov.Htles
did not have his espial in the
Church. He is not even a high
! school graduate; but he stirred the
conference up with scores of comments
concerning him. We wish to
congratulate both, the Rev. Settler
and the Rev. Pleasant, and the
manner they .entertained their
!? guests. Both Dr. Parker and Robinson
were very much pleased
I with the reports.

Ministerial Alliance
of Columbia and we heard a
good sermon by the Rev. Leroy
Brown. All his pastors made good
financial reports'and doubtless, he
had more visitors than any other
conference in tho state so far. Among
the visitors were all the presiding
elders in the Columbia conference,
Drs. Glover, Gray, Barnes
of Charleston several pirncipals
of schools and others that the official
reporter will tell. Dr. Dun
ham has his own peculiarity 1 n
raisin# general funds. In this futurmatic
drive, one of his methods
is to have a queen at each Church,
baby contest and so forth and
there is no question about it, under
Dr. Dunham's leadership, the Lancaster
district has almost doubled
its self in most everything:. And
presiding; elder who follows him
will have to be up and doing.
NEW UNDER THE SUN
Science claimed, there is nothing
new under the sun, but the I/:incaster
i-tlisirict has reconiended
something new, a white Baptist
Minister, by the name .of the Rev.
Huffman to be admitted to the
conference if-.he passes his examination,
of which we think he will,
then he is eligible to appointment.
If Bishop Reid gives him an appointment,"
this will doubtless be
the first white Minister to pastor
a Negro congregation. We shall
wait with patience to see what will
happen at the Columbia A. M. E.
I Conference.
STATE BAPTIST CONVENTION

and laymen went over to Aiken to

vention. We wondered what he
I would say to a Baptist convention.
Just before the bishop was presented,
Dr. J. A. Baeoats, read a
resolution concerning segregations
which was adopted.
Dr. O. Doings Daniel^, who is
the president, very intelligent,
- with his eloquence and preaching
ability should he a Methodist
preacher presented the bishop to
preach or lecture, bishop Rcid did
both, with his melodious voice and
the official reporter, the Rev. W.
M. Bowman, will go further in the
details.
