WEEK AT MORRIS
Religious Emphasis week at Mor
lis College is always a week that
the College community looks forward
to with anticipation.
The Reverend A. Leon Lowry,
Pastor-of t-he 'Historic Tabernacle
liaptist Church, Augusta, Georgia
was the speaker,
In his.messages, Rev. Lowry was
principally concerned with arous-ing
in the students and people of
the College community, a passionate
zeal to render Christian service,
regardless to their various
fields of endeavor. His messages
were centered around the theme:
"Design For Abundant Living,"
and from this, we heard messages
on the following themes, rrSoiTuT
Secrets of Victorious living," "A
.balcony View of Life," "Facing the
Problem of Evil and Suffering In- f

in.r Siihifwle r\i\ iT. P"
the strong facts impressed upon
the minds of the student was, "WE
ARE SOMEBODY." We have a
dual self. As creatures of. the dust
oi' Che earth, we"have a natural ten
dency to. crave after that which is
low and degrading. But, as crea' lies
of the Divinity*?the other seif
has a tendency to crave that which
is high noble and true. And this ma
a tendency to crave that which is
high noble and true. And.this makes
us more than "a dizzy fly spin
ninu -un a wheel going nowhere,"
we are children of God, Made for
a purpose, marching toward an eternal
destiny.
The Rev. Lowry was very instru
mental in guiding the discussions
led by student leaders on such Topics
as; "Courtship and Marriage."
"The l'reacher s t ask iri the DeSign
for Abundant Living" and
"The Role of Christian Youth in
the Process of Integration." The
students were made to feel there
responsibility and see there places
in each of these for Abundant Liv
Ing. ' ?
The Inter-denominational Ministerial
Alliance of Sumter invited
the Rev. Lowry to be guest speaker
for the group at their regular
meeting last Tuesday, held in the
Emanuel Methodist Church. The
speaker was received with great
^enthusiasm ami warmth of upmt^
Speaking from the theme, "The
Great Transformation," Rev. Low
ry challenged the audience, who
listened with intense interest aruT
enthusiasm to the primary task of
^weHehtngv^For it doea_nat..yet. ap__
pear what we shall he-?__we shall
he like him and we shall see him
as he is." It Was one of the most
deeply spiritual meetings ever
held with the Alliance.
After the meeting we were taken
into thedinning room of the
Church, and was~"servcd with Chick
cn Dinners with all the trimmings.
The Rev. F. C. Ferguson, Pastor
of the church, along with some of
his very fine members, prepared
and served the meals. This was a
great experience for many.
The Rev. Dowry was also thc|
speaker for the Morning Devotion
service Friday Morning over W.F.I
G. Radio Broadfcasting Company.
May God Bless Rev. Dowry to in
spire many other youth and adults
of the nation as he has so beautifully
