Josias Cochran
Richard Josias Cochran was
born to Richard and Hannah Cochran,
August 'J4, 18?56 in Conway,

28, 1043 in Philadelphia, Pa., at

him in death just six weeks
before his passing- after 56 years
of married life.
In early life Mr. Cochran was
n public school teacher in Horry
County, S?uth Carolina. He served
as United States Postmaster at
Bucksville, S. C. iuid-AUi& a merIThant.
He was a man of loyal idael
and noble purposes. For over
three-score years he was a devout
Christian and lived an exemplary
life, worthy of emulation by his
fapiily and neighbors. For twenty
odd years he was Superintendent
of the Sunday School In Bethel
African M. E. Church, Conway.
S. C. lie was,a Class Leader and
member of tht? choir. When the
family removed to Portsmouth.
Virginia ho also served as a Class
Leader in Emanuel under the pastorate
of the late Rev. E.H. Hunter
and Dr. L.L. Berry. Sin-r 1H23
whpn he brought his family to
Philadelphia,?Mr. Coehran joined
Mother Bethel and served as one
of the SBnda.v School /Superintendents,
and a Class Leader. In the
home Mr. Cochran was jovial but
pious. He was a constant Riblc

The deceased was a loyal member
of A. F. ad A. Masons Morn-ing
Star Lodgo No. 73, ConwayS.
C. When he dimitted to Philadelphia
he became a member of
James Varrick Lodge. He was Past
Master and when he died he was
