In the auditorium of Fairfield county training school, packed to standing room . with students, teachers and soldiers, a very unique program was carried out. "Armistice Day" was recited by little Irene Butler, 6, and member,* of the 3rd grade ascended the rostrum and ^ gave "Salute tq the Flrg." All of" the school then joined in the song, "The Star Spangled Banner." The 4th grade rendered a pageant giving a meaning for all of the letters which ere in the word "America." "The Importance and Purpose of Armistice Day" was given by Miss Maude Fcrrd &nd Miss Johnnie Code recited "Flanders Field." ? The program was under the auspices of Miss Mattie H. Boular who also resided at the piano. Messrs. W. G. Sanders, Paul Duval and others of Georgia were the dinner guesta of Prof, and. Mrs.. ^ Roa? last Sunday. They at Johnson C. Smith, their alma mater. The Fairfield County teachers held their second monthly meeting at Fairfield county training school last Saturday with the president, Max -. Whlttington, presiding, the meetino' wan ooened with a brief but touching devotional exercise by our chaplain, Mrs. McKay-?# Ridgeway. Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Harper Laid To Rest Mrs. Sal lie Lowry Harper pass ed away Tuesday morning, October 28th in the hospital at Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born in Fair c field county, South Carolina, the B daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos tf and Nellie Lowry.
