time, in accordance with the
Proclamation of the President of
the Nation, and the Governor of
our State insisting that the nation
observe Day Light Saving
Time by running up time pieces
one hour. The lesson was inter.,
esting and was enjoyed "by those
attending.

10:30 Eastern Standard Time. The

present and expressed their joy,
g-atitude and appreciation for the
spicy program, also for the delicious
repast.
A menu of potato salad, on lettuce,
fried chicken, bread and
' ~ cake, ice cream, pies and punch
was served. Mrs. A. J. Jenkins
president of the Missionary society
and Mrs Rebecca Branch,
presdeat-of Stewardess Board No.
1 along with the other ladies were
given credit for such a unique and
marvelous feat. A nefit sum was
realized.
There was but one serious regret,
and that is our pastor was
absent on account of attending th?

convention in Columbia. xes,
Cumberland church is alive, and
very much so. The morale of the
people is high, and a very fine
spirit is pervading troughout the

The Ministerial Alliance of Alk
en county 'held its last meeting
Tuesday night, -July 29, at

Baptist church.

the program for the evening which
having arrived for the teaching of
the Sunday school lesson, Rev.
Lewis Harrison was asked to come
forward and take charge of teach
in^.the same*.. Rev. Harrison was
eommended for the way 'he taught

The way everyone enterd into the
discussion of the lesson to my
mind was evidence that all pres?
ent enjoyed it and was greatly
^ benefited. It was said at this
meeting that we as minister? are
understanding each other better
and this is very true for truly the
spiritof fellowship is great. We
too can say "at is "goocTf or brethren
to dwell together in.unity.
The acting president at this
time spoke to the end that we were
glad to have our president with us
and asked him to say whatever
he pleased to us. The president
said he was glad the meetings
were going on and that even tho'
he could not be to the meetings
during this season yet his spirit
was always with us on each nite.
He urged the brethren to attend.
1* We all enioved these encouraging
remarks very much.
The program for the following
Tuesday night was read by the
secretary and wns received and adopted.
The business of the alliance
having been completed, the doxology
was sung, the benediction was
pronounced by Rev. S. Reed. We
adjournetf to meet the following
Tuesday evening at the regular
time and place.
