C., spent the week end with her mother Mrs. Bugena Poi'r srtte. Misses Luella Mezyck of Conway spent the week end with her parents of Murrells Inlet. Davis, Jr., of New York City and her guests, Mrs. Fergus of Fisher Island Mrs. Mosley'of New York City and Mrs. Stanley of" New Brighton, visited our school. The entire school and the various mus ical groups of the school sang spir ^^itnals for the visitors. Mr. Davis is a trustee of the school, and has shown a very, friendly interest in-the school pro gram. We are delighted to have our friends visit us at any time. . Wednesday was another big day for us. The basketball teama.-the music groups and several teachers and students journeyed to Blufton, S. C. We received a most I cordial welcome when we arrived. The applause and compliments indicated that the audience was well pleased. Mr. James Washington a native of McClellanville who was a memhcr. of Macedonia passed this life on Thursday to the great beyond. We are still praying for the sick ones everywhere. J. F. Stanley, Pastor Funeral Rites for Mr. Jim Johnson On March 5th Mr. Jim Johnson departed this life at his home near Centenary after a long ill ness. His funeral was held at St. Mary's AME church by his pistor Rev. J. F. Stanley. Scripture read ing 1st ^hapter of Joshua, 10th verse. He was highly recommend ed by the leaders of the church He was a leader of St. Mary's A. M. E. church for many years. He was a faithful church leader up until his health failed him and even though feeble, he didn't want to give up his) office. Letters ofcondolence were read from the ' ' ' L"- a'",Aa? St -T^TIfia and Bethlehem. Papers of recom mendation from the societies. Mr Johnson was a peaceable man, highly respected and well thought of by all. Sunday, March 2, was a high day at St. James. The Sunday school opened at the usual hour. The lesson was discussed by the different classes. Class No 3 has the banner once in life. No. 1 is sure to get it back soon. Both, at 11:3d and night the pastor preached very good ser mons. Thay wore full of aspira tion and inspiration. At 5:80 we reassembled for tho purpose or reui uul ward to a very prosperous league in the future months.
