-Rev. Leroy Jackson, the former
pastor of St. James A;?M.?Er
church, spent Friday and Saturday
in the city and was the house
guest of (Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam
Cherry. Rev. Jackson is now the
popular pastor of Waymtn Chapel,
Winnsboro, S. C.
Mrs. L. E. Rosemond has been
confined to her. bed four weeks
and her daughter, Miss Rubye is
* also ill. She has been sick since
Thanksgiving when she came
home from her school and was not
able to go back. She was teaching
at Beaufort training school
We hope them a speedy recovery

hospital. Mother and son
are at borne now, both doing fine.
LAFFETTE CLUB
The Laffette Club met at the
home of Miss Kindall, 2527 Marshall
street. Devotions were ctr*ried
out in the usual manner. The
minutes were read, received, and
adopted. The roll was called, each
member responded. The house was
then opened for business. We all
adjourned to meet at the home of
Mr. Robert Weston, Green street.

tor was absent, that is he was at

The Missionaries had this day
set apart for them and the collec
tion was worth being noted. Sunday
night was trustees' night. 'The
Rev. K. P. Butler, pastor from Indiantown
circuit preached one of
the best sermons that we have
ever heard him preach. Among
those contributing ty dollar in the
collection were Revs. A. R. German,
E. P. Butler, J. C. Singlctary,
Messrs L. M. Green, John
Wright, Nelson Green, and Fred
McClam. Messrs Wright and
Nelson Green were visitors. Total
for the day $18.00. ,

the white school auditorium in
honor of the first four registrants
that are to leave for camp
from Lake City-, within the next
few days. Two of the registrants
were young men of our
race, Messrs Smack Rose and
James McCutcheon. Among the
guest speakers for this occasion
was our principal, Prof. L,.. D.
Bradley who spoke in behalf of |
the colored draftees. In his
speech that was such an inspiration
to all he stated that ".They
were symbols of being strong
within". The program was sponsored
by the American Legion i
and the Local Draft board.
The third monthly tests for'
this school term ended Friday,
Dec. P>, with the majority of the
students m a k ing satisfactory
marks.
The Choral club under the direc

furnish music for the Health program
