Mr. Myers was the guest speaker and he was beautifully presented to the audience by Miss Jackson. Mr. Gonzales Lybrand and Mrs. Anderson are the teach era in the Chapin school. At 10 a.m. they formed ut the Howard high school building with approximately 2,200 including teachers and pupils. Afcer marching through the principle streets, they assembled on th'* ttr.letic field?the new school cam pus, for the program. Interesting addresses were heard from thi County Supt., Mr: R~ King,- ,Supt?. of?Seboolat Prof. W. C. Bynum, Revs. G. G. Daniels and R. S. Lawrence, pastors of Bethesda Bapt. and Bethel A. MT~E. churches. The schools were ntrtherous. Space will not permit at this writing the names of all receiving prizes, but hope to do so later, but we here mention a few. In the Queens contest for center; Mrs. Bertha iirowne, one of the teachers of the Gaxland Plantation school, von first prize and was crowned Queen. Mrs. Dorothy Grant second and Mrs. Joe Jackson, third. ?The display of the Indian umtmade the children of groups C. B and A. of the Grave Station school, Mrs. Catherine Kelly, tea.jner, was very unique. Our community was saddened 1 on Sunday by the passing of Mrs. I. C. Thompson, the wife of Rev. R. A. Thompson. Funeral services will be held at Bethel A. M.
