C., Nov. 10?An eloquent plea wag made here today for the teaching of humane education in the public schools of the South as the best training for character education by Mr. Seymour Carroll of Columbia, naticrnal field worker-for the American Humone Education Society of Boston. Mr. Carroll was introduced by R. L. Wilkinson, principal of the Dillon County Training schovd?b?fore the students and teachers here in rhp high school auditorium. The quest speaker was accompanied to Dillon by Mists Helen L. Hagen of Dillon, County {Jeans Supervisor of scnoois in tms coumy. ivir. Carroll speaking on the program here for the celebration of American Educa tion Week, also gave dates for the 27th annual" celebration oi "'National Be Kind to Animals ' Week" April the 15th through the 20th. This is the second visit of the humane worker to this county in th> past thirty days. During the County Institute for Teachers at Dillon three weeks ago, he and Mr. J. B. Felton of Columbia, State Supervisor of schools from the State Department of Education lec tines for two duys at the institute. The school here has made many new and better turns under the new administration. North Charleston, S. C. _ Last week was celebrated at Liberty Hill school as American or Nation, al Educational Week. A program was presented each morning stress ing the necessity value of education. On Friday morning a general piogram was given as a summary of the week's activities. Mr. W. M, Gantt, a former graduate of the school and a graduate of Florida Noimal Institute, delivered an ad. dress on the value of education. Rev. 1>. James of Floiida offered the invocation. In ending his address Mr. Gantt commended the Principal and teachers on the improvements made at the school in the past two years.
