MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT Mra. Iva Leo Finch Hammonds announces the marriage of her 4 sister Clotelle Viola to Mr. Henry P. Moone, Sunday, July 9th, 1939 at Salem M. E. church, 7th Ave., New York City The marriage vows were taken from dictations of Rev. J. C. Hill who read the ceremony. Mrs. Moone prior to her marriage was Miss. Clotelle Finch, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Finch of Kingvilla, S. C., receiving her educational training at )South Carolina State college and for the past two years wag instructor of music and fourth grade in the Training . School of Marion county, Mr. Moone is formerly of Foun tain Inn, S C., and is. a professional auto mechanic. F*or the past several years he hag been employed in New York City. The couple now makes their home 40g W. Y27th , street, New '' York City. *? Mrs. Moone's brother Thomas Pinch re spendig his vacation in the city visiting sisters and other friendB. Luncefo THE EAGLE CLUB The club met at the home of Mr. John Wrrght, 912 Lincoln St. Friday, night, September 15th at 8:30 o'clock with the President Mr John Trezevant in charge. The opening selection, Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour was led by Mrs Lillie Perry; prayer by the pres_ ident; selection, Come By Here, by Mrs. Hester Moten; Bible vers es were recited; selection Shine On Me was led by the president. Then the minutes of the previous meeting were read* received and adopted. No business was discussed, the roll was called, 13 members responded. The meeting closed to meet at the home of Mr. Pete Johnson, 11 Melton Ave. The hostess served delicious sandwiches, crackers and tea. THE YOUNG PEOPLE SOCIAL AND THRIFTY I'LUB The club met at the home _Mrs.. Frances Roberta 1400 Harden street. The meeting Was call ed to order by the president. The secretary read the mrnutfes from the last meeting and it was received and adopted. The house was opened f\>r business. After the business session the roll was called with etch mem ber responding with a Bible Verse and dues. We then adjourned to meet a the home of Mrs. Climentine Watts, 1408 Gregg street. Johnson on Tuesday, September 111. 1939 Two tubes have been placed in the Radio, one rs a former and very powerful tube in. person of Mr. George Felder. The other is a new, but very efficient tube' in person, of Mr. Willie McDonald Mr. Felder made a very inter esting short talk after which the set swung into acliun. ? THE WAVER LEY SILVER STAR SOCIAL CLUB The Waverley Silver Star club met at. the home of Miss Anna Belle Wilson, ft017 Tree street, Tuesday night, September 19th. The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Lowman, opening by the Chaplain Mrs. Addie Mae Whartofi. Sing ing, Love Lifted Me, and prayer. The house was turned over to the president. The minutes of the last meeting were read, approved andadopted. The roll - rwas called, each member 'responded. Unfinished business was discuss, ed. There was a party planned to be ^on Saturday night, September 30th. After these transactions we adjourned by singing God Be With You Till Wp Meet Again and the club prayer. Adams read for the scripture lesson Psalms 27, after which the pagfor brought us a soul stirring sermon from wonderful talk by Rev. E. A Adams that was beneficial to all who heard it. Rev. Aams gave us his first visit after being elect ed a general officer of the A. M E. church. Evening worship began on time with another well attended congregation piiesent. At this seryice we witnessed another wonderful message thf/t was enjoyed by all. The Trustee Rally came to a close with a total of $151.00. This raly was-for the benefit of the i Trustee board. The ceremony took place o n the front porch using the doorway as an arch which was beautifully decorated with ivy on a white background. On each side stood tall white seven-branched candelabra under which stood a, tall floor basket of cut flowers j and ferns. Prior to the bridal par ; ty Miss Thelma Leake lighted, the' candles dressed in Navy blue with white, accessories. Miss. Mary Hun tor Little, sister of the bride, was | maid of homor and wore a Navy blue costume and a corsage* o f white roses and f'erns. The bride entered on the arm of her brother, John Douglass and was met in front of altar by M D. C. Pruitt and his best man-Mr i James Adam. The bride was love-' ly in a dress of Navy blue with ' white accessories with a shoulder corsage of Lily of the Valleys and ferns. IT. the class leaders staged a rally which realized more than $100.00 on pastor's salary. All the auxiliaries of the church are wide awake and doing constructive wcrrk. The Ladies Aid sponsored "A Rainbow Wedding" whicir^yas., indeed beautiful and brought over $20.00. On Sunday night, Sept. 10, the Epworth League presented "A Musical Fiesta" as a climax to a coal contest spon soved bjr the pastor. Men's Ray was sponsored by the Brother hood. The program featured some of Greenville's best talent and proved to be a drawing card for a largo number of men as well as women. A parcel post party sponsored by the members and friends o 1 -.John Wesley Methodist chureh on Aug. 22, was given in the beautiful garden of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brooks on Green Aver in ap_ preeiation of the services render, ed by Rev. and Mrs. C. C. Clark^ and daughter. Tnere were around one hundred persons present and each resporn ed with a parcel. Miss Margaret Sewell and Mr. J. L.
