It is not a profession al choir, it was organized for the sole purpose of raising funds to establish a colored library, the members singing for the pleasure of it, but tthere are many in the group who have edge on members of the Hall Johnson and Eva Jessye Professional Choirs. . .Natyou get what I mean. Mrs. Polly Floars A seventy year old woman of Gold boro, N. C. loves her home, there is no question about that. She was badlv burned about the face anu arms when she refused to leave her home which was on fire last week. She had to be be carried by force. She said "if my house is going to burn up I'm going to burn up with it." Neighbors told her not to worry they would see to it that she get a new*house. The lesson was reviewed by Mrs, E. B. Greene. For children's hour selections were rendered by Misses The0 Addison and Viola Robinson before and after the pastor's story to the children Which was Toads or Roses. For the adult church the minister's discussion was Ezekiel's Vision in the Valley. Most of the public school teachers were present, Principar~5hi7th presented the , same. Remarks were by Miss Edna Murry, representing the teachers who have served our school before; and Prof. Arthur Caldwell spoke for the new ones. The League was conducted by Miss Eulah Mae Gamble. ?Never Alone was the evening message by the pastor. Miss A. Foster of Charleston wh<7 is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Kinloch worshiped with us Sunday. Mr.1 and IVflrs. Wm. Lloyd, Mr Elijah Darby were recent joiners of the church. ?The presence and - services of Misses Arnietha Smith and Mary F. Greene are very much missed in our Sunday school and League and church and community life in general. Last week they entered Palmer Memorial institute at Sedalia, N. C. Next week several more will leave our church for Allen university. Mrs. Lucy M. Hughes, conventional president pf the W. H. and F. Missionary society of our church is expected to lecture and show slides of her recent trip to j South Africa Saturday night at Mt. Lebanon church. We expect her to worship yith us Sunday morning. Wells re viewed the lesson. Div-Wells delivered the morning's message. It was very spon tancously delivered. Following the service the busiiit's uf tin1' Conference wn; ronunv ed and culminated. The Elder was paid in full and left in smiles, look ing forward to the Annual Conference. At 4:00 P. M. we witnessed a wonderful song service sponsored by the Dixie Humming Birds of New York. At 7:30 a wonderful prayer service began after which the pastor brought to us vjonderful Sermon. Quite a few worshiped at this service. We moved our pastor in the new parsonage that we have just bought. Mr. Sam Louis is on the sick list at this writing. Presiding Elder Wells, his cabinet, and the pastor were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Anderson. Mr. GeorgP Dixon has moved into his new home on Part St. Miss. H. Margaret Embly was the week-end guest of Miss Ger trude Porter. Miss Embly is an U nstructoi^ -in-Home.-Economic .at the Marion County Tr. School. Messrs. Abraham Brown, William Ragin, Leon Bennett and Alfred Duckctt were the visitors of the Porters on Monday morning Pnroute to their homes from Philadelphia, Pa. They repored a very pleasant vacation. Miss yMarquerite E. Porter left Sunday for her work in the Wilson High School of Florence. We are wishing for her a very successful term.. OAK GROVE CIRCUIT Rev. B L. Guiles, Pastor ?finrufny was a high church going day at Oak Grove A. M. E. chureb The Sunday school was opened at the usual hour with the Supt. anc teachers at- their respective places. We were glad to have visitors in our school. Our Pastor, Rev. Guiles gave ui a soul stirring sermon for our morning hearing. The spirit seem to be very high. Quite a number took the Communion. CAMDEN NEWS ...At the State Woman's Homo Missionary meeting at Newberry in Miller Chapel A. M. E. church though only one day session was carried out owing to death in the family of the President, Mrs. S. L. Flipper, it was voted to adjourn at the close of Thursday night session. To say that it was beautifully and impressively sung is enough. High class music with jazz accents the secular world applauds but Christlike folk desire pathos and sympathy. These get together meetings should strive to lave a god-like feeling. We were pleased to spend Wednesday night in the home of our esteemed presiding elder and wife of the Lancaster district. They really have a lovely home just across from Allen university and are Christians who know now to make you feel at home. We are delighted with our presiding eldei and wife. " Visit New Bethel A. M. jE. Community church in Camden when possible. We are with Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Livingston, two hightoned Baptists. Will be back home ere this is published. Had the chance to visit Mrs. Matilda Johnson, a strong Presbyterian; Rev. A. H. Reasoner is her pastcrr. She has been ill for quite a while but is still cheerful in every way. Her daughter, Mrs. Mamie Cleland is taking especial care of hei mother as an only daughter should There is one commandment with promise and this daughter is obeying i?. (Mrs.) Florine Hurst. THE PALMETTO LEAPE - CLINTON NEWS Friendship A. M. E. Church Rev. H. W. Walker, 1'astor .The revival meeting at Friendship last week was quite a success both spiritually and financially. Rev. McWain of Columbia conducted the meeting, truly we can say he is a great revivalist, each night the audience was packed, the pulpit was filled with associate ministers. A goodly number of souls were saved and over $70 was raised during, the week. On Sunday the regular members came back to worship. " Quite a few of the young folk are leaving this week for various .colleges. We will miss them very much. Miss Thelma Leake enters West. Virginia college as Freshman. We hope for her loads of success. Salters Wadswcrrth enters State* college; Miss Mae Ferguson goes back to dear old Allen; Mr. Andrew Ferguson returns to A. and T. college.
