His wife Mrs Amanda Fox, died
i in January of th% -year. Although
being ill his death was a shock to
his family and friends. He was

a sympathetic father. He was
active in service until his health
failed hiip several years ago.
Funeral services were held from
? the Macedonia Baptist church on
Monday, April 24, at 4 o'clock
with the Rev. S. C. Campbell, of
Anderson officiating, assisted by
-? Rev. James D. Rui'kfel'.
Surviving are two daughters,
Misses Willip- and Nettie Fox;
other relatives and a host of
friends who mourn his passing.

PASSES
Mrs. Lula' Blackmore passed away
at her home in Greenebcrro,
N. C., Wednesday, April 19, 1939.
The body was brpught home and
funeralized Sunday, the 23rd, at
the" Shady Grove A.. M. E. church
of which Rev. A. J. Hodman is the
pastor Many friends of the deceased
accompanied the body here
and spoke highly of the useful and
serviceable life that she lived in
Greensboro.
She is survived by her husband,
one daughter, a mother and fathr
er, cme sister, two brothers and a
host of relatives and friends.
The grave was covered by a

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Young
_ wish, to thank their many friertds.
Mrs. Estelle Davis, her sister, is
grateful^ to Mr. 0. E. Manigault,
Jr., and'Mrs. Shellie Goins for the

family that all of their friends,

" The closing of the adult H. E.
class was an interesting feature
<yf our community last Friday afternoon
and evening. This class
was organized. November -16; 1938
and consisted of thirty students.
After the organization they decided
to take up "Housing as a unit"
A kitchenr project was decided
upon. Ah?the closing?April 28,
an observation tour was made by
the class and friends erf our school.
Twenty-two kitchens were visited,
furniture, utensils and other equip
ment were arranged according to
a studied plan. They were beautiful_
in every detail. Each student
selected her own coIok scheme
and worked out other accessories^
to match. The tour was made by
automobiles, carrying fifty guests

the past four days and claimed
three of her members. Sister
Judith Waiters passed Thursday,
April 27th. Funeral services were
held at Bethel Friday 3 o'clock.
She had lived to a ripe old ftge
and was in ill health for years.
Her passing was quiet and peaceful.

of Trustee board of Bethel A.
M. E. church took his flight to the
celestial city, Thursday afternoon
April 27th. His funeial services
were held fr<*n this church 3:00
midst of a host of sorrowing
friends and relatives. He assured
his Pastor, Dr. Lawrence and

and that he was trusting in the

conducted by Mr. Columbus Buford.
Rev. C. I.. Barr brought the
morning message from the subject
"The Masterpiece of God's Creation''.
He delivered an able sermon
which all enjoyed.- lie was
accompanied by a host of his
members of New Hope A-.M.E.
church. Pine wood. The collection
was fire. The Stewardess were
