IMPORTANT 'N<mCE.
I I
To the Ministers and Laymen of .j
. thePiedmonb Annual Con?? ??
ferenc^.
Greetings:
In a few days from now the E > ?
lectoral College will meet at Pro 1 t
mise Land church in the Groen
Hood District Thre will be about
thirty men in the race, and only
three can be elected.
\
I think we should use our influence
to have the best man elected
Now the ministers cannot vote,
but we sure can talk. A man that
is useless in hi^ local church is
useless in the General Conference. ' .
We have a lot of men who fight
the Pastor, and the program of
the Church, and yet they think
trfe.v should be elected. That kind
of laymen should not be even sent
to the Electoral College. Then why.
send him to the General Conference?
I want to offer you a man
that is true'and tried, a man who
is loyal to the local church. A
man who is a fri(-pd t? tb?. prpn^h.
er, a man who wants to see his
Pa'tor get a decent living, a man
who is not selfish and disagreea- "
ble, a man who has the respect
of both white and colored, a man
that knows: the hardships of the
rrnni: t.er and will g'.vp. aid in tne
tune of distress. - _
All of the ministers who have
served Friendship church in Clinton.
S .uth Carolina^ fori'thp past
twenty-five 'peaks "will testify that
I am telling the truth. 1 am offering
you H. L. Akxamlei, a stew
ard of Fri"n,lcV>:p?AME Church,
a trustee of Allen University, a
graduate of Allen, ru! ?. friend to
the minister, a big brother to the
laymen, Elect him and you won't
go wrong.
In case something should happen
to Brother ?_then ?
C. A. Wad?worth is the alternate
and all that I have said about Alexander.
I can say for Wadsworth
Both of these men are sons "of
Methodist ministers, and no bet-- *
ter men could be found in the entire
Church. ' H. W. WALKER.
