Rev. R. I. Lemon, Pastor
Services, at Morris Bro<win last
Sunday were well attended, in
spite of threatening weather. The
sermon was preachd at 11 a.ni
by Dr. Lemon who usecl as a sub~
ject: The Power of Christianity
and selected as a text Acts 17:11.
There- were 4 accessions at the
morning service. Dr. Lemon
preached again ajt night te-a-good
congregation, usflng as a text St.
matt. 5:3-11. The theme developed,
was Upward steps into the
Divine Life. There was one accession
at the evening* service. The
Holy Communion was administered
at both services. Our church
school and A. C. E. league functioned
at their respective hours.
The Mdn's club presented the
Trustees at the close of the evening
sermon $45.00. This will
be applied to the Furnace fund.
Bra.-F. -B. Colonel made the presentation
in his usual effective I
manner. Bro. Wm. H. Simmons!
accepted the donation for the
Trustees.
Just before the benediction was
pronounced Dr. Lemon lnlormeu
the congregation of the death ol
Bishop Grant of Florida. The con
gregation sang the doxology rofl
ly with bowed heads.
. We look fur waul?toward thT"
corning of Mr. C. H. Alford, noted
tenor of New York City, who
will appear at Morris Brown on
March 10th. Advance notices refer
to him as an artist in hi?
line. Activity is still the keynote
around our church. We have read
with regret about the recent hurricane
in Columbia, S. C. We
note also that much of the damage
done was among our people
in that city. Our sympathies go
Dut to the stricken ones.
