I have the humble pride to have
witnessed a number of honorable
happenings in the White Hall
church.- Being the _oldLestL or one

to relate the fqjlowing with due
respect to those involved. --Within
the past sixty jyears
we have licensed thirty-one (31,

Conference; two (2) dele
gates of General Conferenc.
_ For th County: one (1), Trial
Justice; one (1) Constable; one
(1) County Commissioner; one
(1) Superintendent of Education.
There was also one candidate for
Clerk of the Court,-who was defeated
by three votes. Two (2)
candidates for Senator; one (1)
elected; one (1) Represntative.
School: It is interesting t o
note that graduates of Allen, Ben

to eighty-six (86)?all from White

the1 population any one shoulo
readily praise this swift and most
advantageous progress. Don't

only the beginning. It is not difficult
to see that Jenkinsville moves
on with greater determination.
T sincrely believe with the youth

be feurpassed.
One other fact not to be overlooked
is this report is entirely of

MORRIS BROWN 1
A. M. E. CHURCH
Rev. R% I. Lemon, Pastor 1
Charleston, S. C.?Last Sunday dawned
bright and clear, the w?a j
ther being more like early spring, (
rather than January. The wor
shippers at our church were out in i
large numbers, and enjoyed the ]
services of the- day. After the ]
exercises of the junior church ]
were concluded, the service at |
11 a.m. commenced. Dr. Lemon ]
preached from the subject: Steps <
to Spiritual Security. The s^r- 1
mon was based upon the text (
found i*i the Gospel ojf 15?. Luke, J
at the 6th chapter and 47 verse, i
The sermon was well _ delivered
and found its way into "the hearts
of those who attended. Our Sun- '
day school and A. C. E. League ^
functioned at their respective
hours, with good attendances. At '
7:30 p.m. Dr. Lemon delivered a 1
sermon on the theme, The Con- 1
ditions of a Long Life. The text 1
beine taken from I P*ter, 3rd 1
chapter and 10th verse. There was 1
one accession at the morning ser f
vice and at night, thirteen p?r- 1
sonB were inducted into the full I
Communion of the church. The '
work of soul saving go?s steadily
on at Morris Brown. During ]
our mid-week services. we are 1
blessed with conversio-rre due - to J
special efforts made along that
line;" ?- The
senior board of Stewardess
will sponsor a program on tiext
Sunday evening which promises to
be interesting. j
The usual Christmas shoWer of j
the leaders takes place on next .
Tuesday night. This event is al- ]
ways anticipated and well enjoy j
ed by the large crowds that attend.
The Chairman of the af- (
fair, Bro. Wm. H.'Simmons prom (
is^s a program of more than pass {
ing interest. This custom origi- j
nated at Morris Brown more than j
25 years ago, and has continued j
without intermission ever since s
tTTat~tIme. Several other churches j
have adopted the custom, and e
have made .it a feature oi their "]
-church activities. Obi last Wed- $
nesday night, a group of workers
from the Star Gospel Mission c
(white) conducted tWe- prayer j
meeting undeol the direction of ]
Rev. Carter. Four presons were ?
coriwrted at the service. It is )
evident that the religion of the
white man, is practically the same
as that of the colored man. The S
only evident difference being that f
the contacts made, are not numOm.
<-Vinvr>K still maintains t
