E. church for 41 years passed to the Great Beyond on Monday morning, September W, 1938. She was chairman of the Stewardess board No. 1; leader of the choir; secretary of the Missionary board. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon with a very large attendance. The following ministers assisted? in the cere=*? mony. First hymn No. 502, lined by Rev. Deveaux; first scripture lesson by Rev. Judbn; second Rev^. Chisolm; praydr by Rev. Green; second hym*, Rev. I. Motton. The sermon was preached by the Paster, Rev. E. SPARTANBURG DISTRICT On Wednesday, September 14th the annual fall convention of the Spartanburg. District South Carolina conference began its work on the 'St, Mark charge with the Dis- . trict Suupt., Dr. D. E, Thomas jn the chair. ' There were many fine papers ~ read and discussed to the good of all. The reports were called for The response showed an increase over last year. _ Among the distinguished visitor,, were Drs. A. R. Howard, D. S. Curry, district superintendents of the Sumter and Greenville districts, respectively, and Revs. E. 1 ? Cf Wright and E. Holhrway, pastor and lay-preacher of John | Wesley church in Greenville. Each of these gave encouraging messages. Friday was young people'g day. Dr. D. H. Stanton, secretary of the American Bible-society, At- ' lanta, Ga., thrilled us with an inspiring address. Dr. Stanton has spoken to us on thi? occasion for the last six years. We hope he will keep it up. On 'Friday nite Dr. f. K. Gregg of Spartanburg gave us a moving picture with explanations on social diseases. This waR very interesting.
