Lewis died at his home on Oak St., July 6th, after an illness of ten days. He | sui ved twenty years as pastor in the AMEZ church and twenty' years as Presiding Elder, bcing^ac-j tive until his illness checked him. Funeral seiwices were held at Metropolitan AMEZ church Friday, -July 8th.?The "church waR packed" to its utmost capacity and many could not gain admission. Bishop J. W, Martin of Chicago, preached the sermon using the text: Job, 5;26, "Thou shalt come to_thy grave in a full age like a shock of corn cometh rn his season."
