in the Junior Normal class
who had completed the work in the
lopartment of teacher training.
He presented these certificates at
the same time that he presented
the diplomas.
The teachers and students, who
were going for the summer with
a few exceptions, left by noon
Wednesday, June 1.
Principal J. E. Blanton in his
final announcements mentioned a
slight decrease in board, along
with a slight increase in certain
"fines of tuition for next year. The
summer work has already been
started, and Jthe school seems normal
again.

MR. JOHN CALWISE PASSES
Bolton Cahvise passed away here
at his home -Thursday morning,
May 26th. between 7 and 8 o'clocK.
Mr. Cajwise was reared in Newberry
County. He came to Cross
inil about 25 years ago. He was
the son of, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Calwise.
He was a mechanic and
plumber; and his kind and courtoous
service to all, won for him
scores of friends, both white and
colored, throughout Laurens Co
He is survived' lyy his widow,

sisters and a host of relatives an<1
friends. Funeral services were
