TUB PALMETTO LEADEK
District Meeting's of 1
Ho
By R? . W. R. Bowman
Your reporter along with Rev. J.
P. Washington attended the above
named meeting near Blackstock.
We wish now to make an apology
to the society members for our
long delay. We had to rush and
turn fast to get Dr. McGill electWliresiffent
of Allen university.
Dr., Dent has legions of friends
who did not know he was in the
race. 1 do not think its a good
policy for any aspirant to wholly
depend on some one else to do all
his planning. *
This was district No. 2 and we
called the state board to this place
to save expenses and to meet the
members of this district.
The board decided to have the
state convention to meet at Carlisle,
Saturday before the fourth
Sunday, in October. Mrs. Maria
Burton rendered valuable service.
State Secretary Williams also attended
and made a good speech.
We were glad to see Rev. Sanders
ip and out again.
Brothers C. L. Worthy, Westly
Emmerson took care of the order.
Along with them are Mrs. Daisy
Holley, Miss Mattie McCollough
who has the strongest lodge, in
that district, but James EffVidge
of Saluda has the largest lodge in
the state. Mrs. Minnie Thompson
Sallie Price, Rev. Hill. Warren
Worthy and others. Rev. Washington
address will never be forgotten.
